We're very excited to announce that Ann Arbor Triathlon Club sponsor and friend Michael Parker from Parker Performance Training will be hosting coached interval run workouts on Tuesdays starting March 30. Details are below. Hope to see you out there!

WHERE: Ann Arbor Running Company in Kerrytown at corner of 4th and Ann

    WHEN: Tuesdays at 6pm

WHY: Because intervals are good for you!

    - The store closes at 6p so do not bring extra gear (or a full bladder).

    - PLEASE WEAR A MASK to the meetup and during the run briefing since it will be close quarters. Use your own judgment on whether you need to wear a mask while running outdoors.

Thursday Evening Bricks - May Through August

We are SO excited to get back to racing in 2021 and we couldn't wait until Memorial Day to kick off the Brick season.

Brick workouts are a key component to every triathletes training schedule, and to no surprise the Thursday evening bricks are the staple workout of the club. We’ll meet every week, unless it’s raining, in which case, you can ride at your own risk. Here’s the info:

When:  Thursday evenings at 6:10pm (See Below)
Location: Forsythe School (See Maps Below)
Distance: Bike route: 20 mile road, 12.7 mile dirt road option, & there are 3 run routes available.

PLEASE PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING at the parking lot while the state guidance recommends it.

The Thursday Evening Brick workouts are structured to cater to varying abilities within the triathlon club. A phased start is used for the Brick workouts. This phased start is designed to allow the newer riders to have a head start, and ride at their own pace. The most experienced riders will be in Group 5. This also allows the group to finish the bike ride around the same time, so that folks can begin the run together. Here's how it works:

    • Group 1: Bike start at 6:10pm (<14 mph NO DROP) Moved 5 Minutes Earlier
    • Group 2: Bike start at 6:16PM (16 mph and under average pace)
    • Group 3: Bike start at 6:21PM (19 mph and under average pace)
    • Group 4: Bike start at 6:25PM (19 - 21 mph average pace)
    • Group 5: Bike start at 6:30PM (21 + mph average pace)

    • Pinckney State Rec Area, 8555 Silver Hill Rd Pinckney, MI 48169 United States

Monday Open Water Swim at Silver Lake

Where: Pinckney State Rec Area Silver Lake Beach - you must have a state park sticker or passport to enter the park.

When: People gather after 6:30pm swim starts at 6:45.

Summary: All club members are welcome!  If you don't own one it is recommend that you purchase and bring a swim buoy.  The swims are good to practice and train for open water swims.  There is no lifeguard and all members will swim at their own ability and risk.  The lake is 1/2 mile across and we typically swim across and back. Depending on the event, some members do multiple laps.

BEGINNERS are encouraged to swim along the cigarette buoys marking the beach area, which is shallow and close to shore.  One buoy circuit = 450yds.

Social: We can hang out afterwards on the beach, so bring a camp chair if you wish. Park concessions are closed and sharing food is not recommended, so BYO snacks.  Note that alcohol and glass are not permitted.

We suggest that swimmers that take longer than 1 hour to swim one mile may consider swimming half way across and back or along shore before trying to swim the complete distance across the lake and back.

*For club liability reasons to participate in club workouts, you are required to be a Ann Arbor Triathlon Club member.  You swim at your own risk.  There are NOT any lifeguards on duty and no one is responsible for you, except your self.  If you are not comfortable swimming across the lake, do not do so.

Participants should use a swim buoy and must be a club member. You can purchase a buoy at https://www.kiefer.com/open-water-swimming-pages-1207.php
