Honoring Karen McKeachie's legacy
Finish the Border to Border Trail
In 2017, the triathlon and Ann Arbor community lost Karen McKeachie, world-class triathlete, athletic trail-blazer, and community leader. Karen’s Trail celebrates what she loved most by expanding recreational opportunities for everyone in the region.
In her memory, the Ann Arbor Triathlon Club is rallying club members, family and friends to raise money to complete a portion of the Border to Border (B2B) trail in honor of Karen. The largest and most important section of the B2B trail that remains unfinished is the 8 mile stretch, called "the spine," which lies between Dexter-Huron Metropark and Bandemer Park on the north side of the City of Ann Arbor. This stretch of the B2B trail will be completed in the name of Karen.
The B2B Trail is a 35-mile, 10 foot wide, ADA accessible, paved pathway consisting of 8 different trail corridors that connect you to cities, parks, and many destinations throughout Washtenaw County, Michigan.
The Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative (HWPI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is responsible for the private fundraising, community engagement, and ongoing support along the B2B Trail.
